MacKenzie Foy Jan 29 2024 at 9:46AM on page 2 Comment To my understanding a lot of the overwhelming street trash in residential areas comes not from litter, but city garbage workers refusing to pick up ripped bags or improperly packaged trash when left outside. When not picked up this trash gets swept away into the street. It breaks my heart to see our beautiful parks and residential blocks suffused with garbage. I know I am not alone in this, and that residents want cleaner streets. It seems like a structural issue/disconnect between residents and city workers and I do think more thorough and frequent trash pick ups would help. There is no reason why the trash outside my building right now should be full with more than 6 additional bags of trash accumulating next to it. I hope expanding trash pick ups is prioritized and that this plan is made in consultation with garbage workers who may have additional insights as to why this is such a prevalent issue in the city. 0 replies
